I stopped by UNIQLO in SoHo today to check out the 3rd and final collection (S/S 2010 2nd delivery) for the Jil Sander UNIQLO line. I was pretty underwhelmed, but then again my personal aesthetic doesn't lean towards simplicity- one of Sander's main design principles. It was a little too Brave New World meets slim fit Land's End for me. Nevertheless, I did end up buying a fitted dark denim-like poplin shirt for $39.50. The women's line stood out as more daring and sophisticated. The men's line was definitely well-crafted with a sharper focus on casual outerwear for the final delivery. There were some great pieces that, when styled correctly, can really compliment a complete outfit. The only standouts of the entire collection (starting from F/W 2009) were the belted trench and the single breasted Macintosh coat. If you're a slim fellow who yearns for cheap, clean well-tailored everyday clothing, hit up the tail end of the +J UNIQLO collection before all the XS's are out!!!
