Style Watch: Diemme Hiking Boots

Look out, Timberland, there's a new street boot in town. Hailing from Montebelluna, Italy, brobblers (brothers/cobblers) Dennis & Maico bring you a topnotch hiking boot of comfort, durability and style. These are popping up all over specialty shops in Europe and NYC. Style-wise, I'm still torn if I can wear them myself but I must say the comfort level is pretty light and unbeatable. Available at Present-London and Odin.




A bit cartoonish, my hesitation on accepting these into my own wardrobe comes from their flirting with the borders of anime character shoes. But, hey, I've never met a Harajuku girl I didn't like.

The Musings of Michael Kors

Sometimes we have to take a break from the menswear world and focus on more important things: the self-indulgent & unabashedly deprecating elucidations of Michael Kors as a judge on Project Runway. This week's challenge was a poor attempt to market the new shades of L'oreal Paris (saying "Paris" at the end automatically makes it couture, obviously) where designers had to choose one of many...some including Bright, Matte, Metallic, Crystal, Hot Mess, Morning After, Tore Up, Word Vomit, High Price Hooker, etc. etc etc (I may or may not have made the last 5 up)...to inspire a couture and commercial runway look. Valerie chose "Crystal" for her two designs and I guess you could say she missed the mark. Now, please enjoy a photo re-enactment.


MK: "I think that this metallic weird diamante hoop in her shoulder is just wacky."

Bono & Wife for LV

I saw this on the back of this week's New Yorker and had to do a double take. No comprendo. Are they in Africa? Yes. According to WWD, the ad coincides with the Africa Rising temporary exhibition where contemporary African art will be sold alongside Edun's spring collection during Paris Fashion Week. Both Bono and Hewson donated their appearance fees to a slew of organizations that promote growth in developing countries, and portions of the profit from their new co-designed bag will also be donated.
Note: they're not actually wearing Louis.
